Band-Aids & Brave Hearts: Play Therapy for Medical Trauma in Children

This training equips play therapists with trauma-informed tools to support children facing medical trauma. From hospital stays to chronic illness, medical experiences can leave lasting emotional impacts. This workshop explores how play therapy can help children process fear, build resilience, and restore a sense of safety and control. Through experiential activities and creative interventions, participants will learn developmentally appropriate ways to promote healing in young clients navigating medical challenges.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the impact of medical trauma, hospitalization, and chronic illness on children’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental functioning.
Identify trauma-informed play therapy interventions that support children in processing medical experiences, increasing emotional expression, and restoring a sense of safety and control.
Apply developmentally appropriate creative and experiential play therapy techniques to promote coping, resilience, and therapeutic healing for children navigating medical challenges.
Once Upon a Time in Therapy: Using Bibliotherapy to Transform Play

Join us for an immersive training designed to introduce and enhance the use of bibliotherapy in play therapy. In this hands-on seminar, you’ll explore how storytelling can serve as a powerful tool in helping children navigate emotions, process trauma, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Whether you’re new to bibliotherapy or looking to deepen your practice, this training will provide you with practical techniques and creative strategies to weave the magic of stories into therapeutic play.
Learning Objectives:
Identify developmentally appropriate criteria for selecting therapeutic books based on a child’s presenting concerns, developmental level, therapeutic goals, and cultural context.
Demonstrate at least three creative bibliotherapy techniques that integrate books and storytelling with play therapy interventions.
Apply bibliotherapy interventions to clinical scenarios involving children experiencing emotional distress, trauma, anxiety, or other common presenting concerns.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email at least 72 hours prior to the start of the training to receive a full refund, minus any applicable processing fees.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the training are non-refundable, but registrants may request to transfer their registration to a future training (if available).
In the event that the training is canceled by the organizer, all registrants will receive a full refund.
